We work with the full range of residential and light commercial fixtures found in rowhouses, single-family homes, condos, and small offices across the DC area:

- Flush and semi-flush ceiling mounts
- Bathroom vanity and mirror lighting
- Outdoor porch and entry fixtures
Planning a Fixture Change Before We Arrive
The fixture you pick affects more than looks. Weight, bulb type, and the dimensions of the existing electrical box all matter before a fixture goes up. A multi-arm chandelier or a large drum pendant can weigh many times what a flush mount weighs, and the box behind it has to be rated and secured for that load, not just the one that happened to be there when the house was built.
Many rowhouses and older homes in DC, Montgomery and Prince George's Counties, and Arlington and Alexandria have plaster ceilings, older junction boxes, or wiring that predates the fixture styles sold today. Swapping a fixture also means confirming the circuit is wired correctly, the box is grounded, and the connections are sound — not just matching wire colors and hoping for the best. When you tell us the fixture type and location ahead of time, we can bring the right hardware and avoid a second trip.
Why Some Fixtures Flicker or Buzz After Installation
We regularly see fixtures installed by well-meaning homeowners or previous contractors that worked for a while and then started to flicker or buzz. Loose wire nuts, a box crowded with too many connections, a mismatched dimmer, or a fixture drawing more current than the circuit was designed for are all common causes. Each has a different fix, and guessing at it usually means paying for the same visit twice.
Repair and Troubleshooting
If a fixture flickers, hums, trips a breaker, or just stopped turning on, we test to determine whether the issue is the fixture itself, the switch, the wiring, or the bulb and socket. Sometimes a repair is as simple as replacing a failed socket; other times the fixture's internal wiring has degraded enough that a new fixture is the more sensible path. We explain what we find before any repair work begins so you can decide how to proceed.
Service Area
We install and repair light fixtures across Washington, DC, suburban Maryland, and Northern Virginia, handling rowhouses, single-family homes, condos, and small commercial spaces alike.
Schedule Fixture Work
Whether you've already bought a fixture that needs hanging and wiring, or an existing one needs attention, call (202) 521-4835 to describe what you're working with. We'll ask a few questions about the fixture and the room so we arrive prepared.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you install a fixture I already purchased?
Yes. Bring your fixture or have it on site and we'll mount and wire it, including a box upgrade if a heavier fixture requires one.
Why does my new light fixture flicker?
Flickering usually traces to a loose connection, an incompatible dimmer, or a mismatched bulb type. We test each possibility to find the actual cause.
Do I need a bigger electrical box for a chandelier?
Often, yes. Heavier chandeliers and larger pendants need a box rated for the added weight, which we evaluate and install as part of the job.
